Our innovative, cutting-edge curricula are problem or project based, motivating ALL students to learn by engaging them with meaningful “real-world” challenges. Based on research in the cognitive and learning sciences–how students learn best, and developed through the NSF rigorous, iterative process of field-testing and rewriting, our active-learning approach develops the college and career readiness skills that students will require as they move forward into the 21st century.

Students work in collaborative groups to iteratively solve problems and explore challenges, and as they do, they develop a community of practice and a culture of collaboration and communication. Students are provided with the opportunity to learn science and mathematics the way that scientists, engineers, and mathematicians do, by participating actively in using science and engineering practices as well as mathematical reasoning. Our curricula prepare students to meet the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and English as well as the Next Generation Science Standards.
